in

Lanzarote is famed for both it’s white and black sand beaches, after all when visiting an island with such exceptional weather, where better to enjoy it than beside our gorgeous waters.

Whilst all our beaches are stunning destinations in their own ways, we have chosen our top 5 which you simply must visit during your time on the island.

1 – Playa de Papagayo

Fine golden sand and clear waters, Playa de Papagayo is actually a series of stretches separated by volcanic rocks. The main Papagayo beach is the last one before the Punta del Papagayo. Because of it’s southern location Papagayo generally enjoys the best weather on the island.

2 – Playa Chica

Probably the smallest beach on this list, Playa Chica is barely 100m from end to end but it’s also one of the prettiest on the island. This beach is located in the popular resort town of Puerto del Carmen, on the southeast coast. Calm waters make this beach popular with divers.

3 – Playa de Famara

A surfers beach, Playa de Famara is a long and dramatic stretch of beach backed by spectacular cliffs on the northwest coast of the island. It’s openess means this sweeping bay is more prone to strong winds than some of the more sheltered beaches but it is this which attracts the surfers to enjoy the impressive waves.

4 – Caletón Blanco

Pure white sand and black volcanic rock formations greet visitors to this string of beautiful coves. Natural pools are left stranded during the receding tide leaving behind warm, shallow rockpools where toddlers can play safely.

5 – Playa Honda

Located alongside Arrecife airport Playa Honda is often the first glimpse of beach that visitors see from the air upon arrival on the island. This is a gorgeously unpopulated spot blessed with a wide sweep of golden sand. When the sun goes down, visitors can head over to the numerous tapas bars that line the promenade.

Lanzarote is brimming with coastal getaways for visitors with all interests, from gastronomy to surfing and relaxing to diving, no matter what time of the year you visit, this paradise islands soft sands and clear waters are all guaranteed to impress.
